Our ethos is to create a space to enable contemplation and to reconnect with partners, families and the natural environment. Where we can, we source locally or grow and produce on the farm. Our sourdough bread is made on the farm, eggs come from our chickens and our very own Lineys Chocolatiers are made here with high quality vegan chocolate.
The Barns
In a time when agricultural machinery is increasing in size and complexity, old barns and outbuildings are becoming increasingly redundant. We’ve re-purposed these buildings because of their natural charm and beauty but also to provide a space to experience the Derbyshire countryside without compromising on the benefits of modern day living.
Roundhouses
We are the only species on the planet to have evolved away from building round ‘nests’ and this is surprisingly not due to practicality.
Early civilisations all embraced the idea of living in the round, and many self sufficient communities across the globe still do to this day.
The benefits of this building shape are not only ecological and financial, but also psychological.
Circular structures are more energy efficient and they use 30% less resources to build than rectilinear buildings having the same floor space. Therefore their construction depletes far fewer natural resources.
It has also been well documented that such round abodes create a sense of calm and wellbeing, hence the already huge popularity of Tipis and Yurts.
